Motorola Droid X2 Review
The Motorola Droid X2 is the follow-up to last summer's Droid X. The Droid X set a very high bar with its massive 4.3 inch screen, 8 megapixel camera, and sleek build. With such a strong first act, Motorola faced a tough task in trying to make the Droid X2 and improvement.
The build of the Droid X2 is exactly the same as the original Droid X. It has the same thin black body and same hump on the back. The only difference is the lack of a physical camera button and the dual-core logo on the back of the device. Thanks to the dimensions remaining unchanged, it is compatible with all accessories for the Droid X.
The Motorola Droid X2 ships with the latest version of Motorola's Blur skin. It does not, unfortunately, ship with the latest version of Android. Rather than 2.3 (Gingerbread), the X2 ships with Android 2.2. The interface lags a bit more than would be expected for a device with a dual-core processor. This aspect of the device was definitely a letdown. A patch is expected for this soon.
Overall, the Droid X2 is a good phone, but it's not anywhere near as groundbreaking as its predecessor. With other phones such as the Droid 3 and the soon-to-be-released Droid Bionic competing with it, the Droid X2 isn't a phone that will have much of a market share. Instead, the device is one that will satisfy casual users and hardcore Droid X fans who want to stick to the same phone and upgrade the processor.
